16 – 18 May 2008, Minehead, UK. We took a really spiffy Vanilla Spits revamped VW spiltscreen van all the way West, to see some really cool bands strut their stuff… The drive took about 8 hours from Brighton, which should actually have taken about 3. Not exactly speedy. But we got there nonetheless. Bands we saw includedMono, Envy, The National, Animal Collective, Iron & Wine, Battles, Eluvium, World’s End Girlfried, Beach House, Stars of the lid & Explosions in the Sky. Hmmmm…
We took one morning to drive around the area, and went to explore a really nice little town called Dunster.

24 – 29 December 2008
The Lake District is in North West England. And not in Wales (Carla) or Scotland (Aldie)… And thats where we were over Christmas. If you’re wondering why we look cold in some pictures, it’s purely because we were cold. Some things in life have such wonderfully simple explanations.
One of those examples of looking cold
See the top of the cliff behind Carin… That’s where we’re headed…
One hour later – we were there… And the sun came out. What fun.
Carin’s favourite lake: Ullswater
Hmmm frozen lake = frozen fingers.
Boat ride! We were the only people on top, sole adventurers braving the cold.
Thank heavens we had hot chocolate.
Thats frost – not snow. It doesn’t melt during the day, and gets nice & slippery.
Carin says I look arrogant, I just think I look amazing.
Willy Wonka, caressed by the early morning rays of love
Ice Ice Baby! dum dum dum da da dah dah…

We went to Paris from 23-27 March 2008 to meet Valerie (new (and only!) agent for shotopop!), and to do some general sight seeing and holidaying! We had great weather on Sunday, while trundling around the back alleys of Montmartre. We had a lazy lie down on the grassy knolls in front of the Sacre Coeur while soaking up syrupy pancake goodness and watching people and time go by. Good ol’ laziness. After meeting Valerie an Pierre, we mozied on down to the, erm, red light district (I think…) to see the Moulin Rouge and ended up dining on garlic in a little place with a really nice view.
Day Deux. We walked from the Arc de Triomphe, down the Champs Elysees and took the metro to meet Valerie and go meet some people at WIZZ. Through the Galleries Lafayette, down to the Louvre, we stumbled into our old friend, Lucy Lui at a Christian Dior Fashion show. She’s really short. And her bodyguard is really tall. From there we walked along the Seine and enjoyed some snails before heading up the Eiffel Tower (Or tour de oeuf as Carin likes to call it ). Its high. Serious. We almost didn’t go past the second level – its just that scary (for Carin – of course). Then we walked (again) past the Royal Palace, some more places of interest we didn’t know about and couldn’t pronounce, up the Champs Elysees (Shian Zilly Zay – really), past a bunch of crazy concept cars, and ended where we started – at the Arc de Triomphe, and ultimately the bed.
Day Three. Went to Valeries office (in Belville – like the triplets – yeah?) in the morning, followed by a visit to the (closed on Tuesdays) Pompidou Centre, and ended up drinking the craziest hot chocolate. With spoons. Being too sweet to think straight, we had some chocolate crossoints, and walked through the laines near St Pauls station. When we couldn’t walk anymore, we hopped (got) on a bus and did some sightseeing (sleeping) from there. After another meeting, we met Valerie at the Notre Dame and went for a kir and some French crooning at a bar in St Germain. After gorging ourselves on a cheesy fondue, we made our way back to the Notre Dame, were we were planning a romantic midnight moon-gaze, but ended up freezing and getting lost trying to get home. It was romantic though. Lost, and romantic. And cold. All in a days work for our young adventurers. Enough with the words! Here’s some pictures.
Nice view from our hotel room – cheap and lovely.
Half body, half head, half flowers, all supermodel…
The Sacre Coeur – and our mugs…
The Sacre Coeur again – its kinda hard to miss really.
SEXODROME!!! x2 And Casper making the international “Sexodrome” sign most skilfully
The Metro – and the Moulin Rouge. Creepy place that…
Bonsoir! Deux Mojito si voux plei! Merci!
We lost Carin’s nose. But she found it again later. We were so relieved.
Is it a plane? Is it a car? YES! Its a car.
Casper contributes to the expanding International Sign language. Again.
They say Paris is full of models. And when in Rome – erm, act like a model? Or something…
The Seine river – and some dancing. River dancing.
Runs like a monkey – Jumps. Flails.
AngelA -The Luc Besson movie.
The growing building!
Carin, and snails and the tour de oeuf.
The inside of the bottom of the Eiffel Tower.
Another Incredible sign – This one means “Eiffel Tower”. And we discovered some seriously chocolaty hot chocolate.
Hmmm romantic view. C’mon – its Paris, these comments were bound to get cheesy sooner or later.
Valerie in her office – busy organizing all kinds of good stuff.
Carin – In Valeries office – just standing there…
More great hot chocolate – notice the contempt? Yes. Indeed.
Another romantic spot – yes, In Paris! Co-incidence? No thank you, just another glass of red.
Carin in some really pretty lanes near St Pauls station.
Babushka! Babushkababushka! Sooo many…
The Notre Dame – wow. Seriously one of the most beautiful things ever – The pictures really don’t do justice.
The Metro station late at night – They really hid this one well. Almost impossible to find the place from the top.
Almost home – and Carin gets a bit weird…
Au revoir Paris!
So that was fun. And it only took like a whole day to sort out the pictures to upload. This blog thing might be a bit more work than we initially thought. So look at it thoroughly! And again! We didn’t put these pictures here for our health you know…
